Mix and match Kaisercraft creation

Another challenge layout completed this time for the Kaisercraft January Challenge.  The challenge was the use this sketch for inspiration and to use at least 80% Kaisercraft products.

For my layout I placed the photo and paper layers on the left hand side of the page and used a circle specialty paper for one of the layers. The papers are a mix of Kaisercraft ranges including:
Base - Treasured Moments - Memory
1st Layer - Lady Rose - Violette
2nd Layer - The Lakehouse - Serenity
3rd Layer - Telegraph Rd - Postage
4th Layer - The Lakehouse Paper Pad
5th Layer - Lady Rose - Eleanor

Whilst the patterns and colours worked well together I did feel that the background was a little busy so I softened it in places with a touch of gesso.

Additional Kaisercraft products include doilies, resin flowers, mini blooms, paper flowers (made into large green and pink flowers), wooden heart from the lucky dip range, birdcage vine die and circle vine die.  By the way the birdcage vine die is fast becoming a favourite as I love that with a few cuts I can get a few individual elements from it. In this layout I used the vine on the left and two separate birds (the birdcage has been set aside to use on another project). Additional non-Kaisercraft products include metal charms, Martha Stewart punches, sequins, paper napkin, pearl string and muslin.

Thanks for looking. Until next time...

Sunny yellow on not so sunny days

The weather is here is so crazy at the moment, super hot one minute and the next minute I'm needing to put on a jumper! I'm usually a summer loving girl but as my scrapbooking room has no air conditioning it is nice to have some cooler weather for creating.  Today's page is a creation for the 123 challenge.  The criteria is to use the colour yellow, texture and the word "together".
123 Challenge

Here is my layout:

I used a range of papers on this layout including the following:
Bo Bunny - "Genivieve"
My Minds Eye - "Kate and Co"
Kaisercraft - "Fine and Sunny"
Kaisercraft - "Lilac Ave"
I always get an extra buzz taking papers from different companies and ranges and working them together to create. It is something that I have only recently had the confidence to do.

I was so excited when I saw that the technique was texture as I have been itching to try out an embossed acetate technique seen on Pinterest.  I was so excited that I had a honeycomb embossing folder (Kaisercraft) to match honeycomb print in the main paper. To add further texture I also used a script folder (Cuttlebug) on the same piece.  After painting over the acetate I waited impatiently for it to dry (I was reluctant to use a heat gun on plastic) before sanding the raised areas lightly. Further texture has been added with corrugated card, paper napkins, texture paste, metal charms and lace. Here are some close ups of the details;

Until next time...

Post Christmas Creating

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Years. My darling hubby gave me the complete series of Dr Quinn Medicine Women for Christmas so I have been happily watching this as I scrap away including the layouts below.

First up is the January challenge for Funky Flair Studio with the criteria of using orange, stenciling and a Funky Flair.

Whist I'm always happy to stencil using orange is most definitely outside my comfort zone.  This is what I came up with...

For stenciling I used texture paste with a chevron and honeycomb stencil as well as through dry wall mesh, also gesso with a bubbles stencil and mists with an alphabet/numbers stencil.  The papers were mostly from the few rare orange sheets in my stash with the exception of the background sheet which was purchased on the weekend for 50c (gotta love those bargains!!).

Next up is the December challenge for the Funky Flair Studio.

Oh how pretty is this one!! Pink and blue, a snowflake and a Funky Flair.  Here is my creation...

Once again I proud to say I mostly scrapped from my stash making use of some papers that had been in my collection for a looooong time (one sheet was new and I only ended up using the smallest piece of it).

Last but not least is this layout I made using the "Treasured Moments" collection by Kaisercraft (with a bit of pink paper from "The Lakehouse" (also Kaisercraft) thrown in. It is such a gorgeous collection to create with and I look forward to creating a few more layouts from this range.

That's all for now. The weather here is cooling down now which is perfect for more scrapbooking. It was a little hot in my craft room the past few days.
